Just finished some testing of low Reynolds number propellers with Aurora Flight Sciences in our anechoic chamber.
Three of my current and former students (Nick Molinaro, Christopher Hickling, and Dr. Ian Clark) did a great job presenting at Aviation in Denver, CO. Each of their presentations drew a lot of interest. Congratulations to Nick and Ian on their new jobs!
Just returned from the FLINOVIA II meeting at Penn State. Had a nice time with many productive talks. Thanks to Steve Hambric, Amanda Hanford, Elena Ciappi, Sergio De Rosa, Francesco Franco, Jean-Louis Guyader, and Randolph Leung for putting together such a nice event!
A team of our undergraduate researchers are working to produce a report to the University recommending outdoor concert stage configurations which minimize the acoustic disturbance to the surrounding community. These students conducted a field experiment on campus using the emergency broadcast system in order to validate their acoustic propagation model.
Our work on trailing edge noise was featured in a recent article in the Wall Street Journal. The article can be found at the link below.
Back at DTU to do some field testing!

It will be available on Hulu and Amazon (Episode 7), but you should be able to watch it on local television (NRV area) 10/28 at 7:30 am on the CW (Channel 5).
Just finished filming for the Xploration Station program Nature Knows Best with host Danni Washington. They are interested in our owl-inspired noise reduction technology. We look forward to the episode airing later this fall.
Our recent trip to visit colleagues at DTU in Denmark was a success. I look forward to years of successful collaboration in wind energy and beyond.
